Purchasing a Boat
Purchasing a boat is a very personal matter and can be quite overwhelming. There is a great deal to consider in determining the right boat for you and your family:
- What kind of boating are you planning to do?
- Day cruising
- Week-end cruising
- Long range cruising
- How many people do you need to accommodate?
- What is your boating experience?
- What will be your budget?
We will listen carefully to your answers to the above questions, and then begin the process of finding the right boat for you and your family. Our established network of dealers in other parts of Canada and the USA will allow us to find additional boats that could meet your requirements.
Surveys and Mechanicals
We will want to make sure that any boat that we look at has been properly maintained, and if there is no current survey, ensure that you arrange for a thorough survey to be completed. Many used boats will have some imperfections, so the survey will make sure that you are fully informed, before you make the final decision to purchase. We can recommend recognized Surveyors. Following the survey, a mechanical survey should also be done.
We will also assist, if asked, with your boat insurance. The right insurance will offer you peace of mind and protect your investment, plus your guests that you invite aboard.
If the boat that you purchase is in another country, then we will assist with the Customs Paper Work, transportation, and collecting of taxes where applicable.
When we finalize the sale for your new boat, we will also offer to you and your family, if required, some training time. This could be in the form of docking lessons , anchoring process , basic navigation, and whatever boating procedures that you feel you need to become more comfortable managing your sailboat or power boat.
